RIP The Intimidator

As I sit here adding and updating the memorial pages on my site it is hard to believe it it has now been 16 years since the death of a legend in Nascar; I now update this memorial page for him.

February 18th, 2017 has come and gone as well as the first race of the 2017 Nascar Season the Daytona 500, it fell 8 days after the 16th year anniversary falling on February 26th, 2017.



Some knew this man as Dale Earnhardt Sr. while those of us who watched him and cheered him onto victory every Sunday he was #3 The Intimidator. Once person just had to watch him race just once and they could understand where his nickname of The Intimdator came from. Dale Earnhardt Sr. Was A True Legacy In Racing He Was Known As The Intimidator.

But he was more than just a Nascar Driver he was a father to 4 children 2 sons and two daughters. Kerry (son; oldest), Kelley (daughter), Dale Jr. (son), & Taylor Nicole (daughter; youngest). He was married 3 times.

He Won The Winston Cup in the years 1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1994

I never had the great honor of knowing Dale Earnhardt Sr. or as he was known to his fans as The Intimidator. I only got to see him burning up the track in Nascar and one faithful Friday or Saturday I walked into Wendy’s near my house, where I now live, with my Grandmother, and a man walked past me I stared at him, but didn’t think anything of it until after I had my food and sat down.

The man I saw was Dale Earnhardt Sr. Himself! The Intimidator! Very few believe me when I tell them this story, but I later found out from my Step-Dad that there was a race at Brooklyn that weekend, over at MIS (Michigan International Speedway). Many still don’t believe me when I tell this story even to this day. Saying that there are many that could’ve looked like him, but I ask you this? How can one NOT recognize the intimidating look in his eyes? How can one not recognize that look?

Even though now the Lord has taken The Intimidator home and away from us, I still watch the races and cheer on his son Dale Earnhardt Jr. who now races the number 88 car, and I root on Kevin Harvick who races the number 29 car who has the same sponsors Dale Earnhardt Sr. did. I look forward to the day when it’s my time to go to the Heavens, though I hope it’s not for a long time, because that day I will track down Dale Earnhardt Sr. The Intimidator in the Heavens and meet him. I wonder if he remembers that day we crossed paths in Wendy’s? I will ask him one day.
